The Competitive Program is for boys and girls, ages 11 to 18 searching to continue their soccer experience at the highest level possible. Most of the players that compete in this program have either come through the Sereno Academy Program or have joined our club, at a later age, looking for more opportunities to develop their soccer dreams than what they currently have.
The program is guided by age appropriate teaching objectives. Demands placed upon the players are progressive in nature and focus on the development of the four components of the game (technical, tactical, psychological and physical). Training sessions will be creative, dynamic and enjoyable and will range in emphasis based on the needs of the individual and team. We utilize a proven developmental program that challenges every player and team on a consistent basis but yet fosters self-esteem which builds more confidence and success. This model allows all players to play at the highest level possible based on given skills and ability.
The program offers teams on three different levels according to skill, ability and interest:
- Specific League teams
- Chelsea Team (White, Navy, Gold, Blue)
For more information on each level and what the demands are see TEAM STRUCTURE

Playing-Up In Age
Sereno Soccer Club believes players who demonstrate the skill and ability to "play-up" in age should be given the opportunity to do so. Those players need to receive permission for the respective Director of Coaching. Decisions for players to do so will be made independently for that child and soley in the best developmental interest of that child. A good guideline is whether a player is a top five player in the age up.

Tryouts for the Competitive Program will be held May and June each year, depending on the age group. Teams are formed within every age group, based on the skill and ability level of the player. The process used for team formations will be explained at the parent meeting during tryouts.
It is encouraged that all players interested in tryout out for the Competitive Program pre-register for tryouts. If you do not have the means necessary to do so, on-site registrations will also be accepted on the day of tryouts for that age group.
* exact times of training on each day will be determined once players are selected to a team. Training blocks each day are 4:30pm to 6:00pm, 6:00pm to 7:30pm or 7:30pm to 9:00pm. In general, training is Monday - Thursday with games on weekends. The exact training time for each team will be announced at tryouts but the training days are already pre-determined.
